It is recommended that you read the following thread before continuing.
Guide to Sample GRE Subject Tests Published by ETS
OK, So we know of one previously administered, previously published sample GRE subject test in literature in English, the GR9964.
Are there any others available for free download?
Which exams are contained in books with the following ISBNs?
GRE: Practicing to Take the Literature in English Test (ISBN:0886850053) - August, 1983
GRE: Practicing to Take the Literature in English Test (ISBN:0446392030) - October, 1990
GRE: Practicing to Take the Literature in English Test (ISBN:0446392049) - -1990
GRE: Practicing to Take the Literature in English Test (ISBN:0446396184) - November, 1996

GRE: Practicing to Take the Literature in English Test (ISBN:0886851955) - November, 2000
Just in case you didn’t heed our advice and read the recommended thread (Guide to Sample GRE Subject Tests Published by ETS) above I will mention that many of the books with different ISBN numbers may be identical. Also, many of the different editions may contain the exact same exams. Also, some of these exams contained in the books above may be available for free as a download. This thread is designed to help us collectively uncover this mystery. |

When I looked at Amazon.com, I discovered that the 1996 and 2000 versions are both the 3rd edition; therefore, I make the presumption that both versions offer the same test. (Impossible to verify as the 1990 2nd edition is the only version currently available via Amazon).
The 1990 version, which I did purchase, in a used condition, via Amazon, is called the 2nd edition. I presume that both 1990 editions are the 2nd edition and the same.
I presume the 1983 version is the first edition (The 1983 version is also unavailable as a used book).
I did, elsewhere, obtain one of the tests (GR9564) in the 3rd edition so I'm not sure whether it is worth the money or effort trying to obtain the 3rd edition at an outrageous price. Indeed, dead white males are quite correctly less popular on the current test. It would be nice if people posted information about what types of material they saw on current tests.
I hope this information helps someone. |
