Potential new developments with the General GRE (October 2006)

Verbal Reasoning:
" . . . less dependence on vocabulary . . . More text-based materials . . . Emphasis on skills related to graduate work . . . Expansion of computer-enabled tasks . . . "
Quantitative Reasoning
" . . . Decrease in the proportion of Geometry questions . . . Increase in the proportion of questions involving "real-life" scenarios . . . on-screen calculator . . . "

I have seen that but the tentative date is from fall 2007 but not October 2006
