The Educational Testing Service (ETS) makes and administers all kinds of tests. This post focuses on one of the tests they make, the General GRE.
You will want to visit their site for all logistical issues regarding the General GRE. However, while there you should take a close look at all the preparation materials they have available.
They have some paper and computer based practice exams. Due to all the changes on the exam over the years you will want to use these to make sure the other practice materials you are using are based on the most recent exam format. They have the most up-to-date information on their site.
In addition to sample questions, they have a “Math Review” and some general advice on “Preparing for the Verbal and Quantitative Sections of the General Test”. In addition to their free preparation materials, they also have some “GRE Priced Test Preparation Materials”. One noteworthy service they offer is to be able to have practice analytical writing essays scored for a modest fee.
